 Only approximately 50 kilometers west of Bora Bora lies Maupiti. The small island is almost a copy of Bora Bora, only much smaller and more quiet but also surroundet from a gorgeous lagoon. Striking rocks form the appearance of the main island. Only roughly 1.200 inhabitants live on the 11 square kilometers small island (main island and surrounding motus) - there are no hotels but only a few small familiar guest houses. Very famous is Terei´a beach where you can cross the lagoon by foot from the main island to motu Auria. But despite it´s popularity you are nearly alone at the beach - what a contrast to classical tourist beaches |
